Why We Verify Your Identity
Identity verification is a legal requirement under the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Acts 2010–2021. As a licensed private members club offering gaming services, Dublin Poker Club & Casino is classified as a “designated person” under Irish AML legislation and must verify the identity of every member.
Beyond legal compliance, ID verification:
- Protects you — ensures no one else can create an account in your name
- Protects our community — keeps the Club safe and trustworthy for all members
- Prevents underage gambling — confirms that every member is at least 18 years old
- Supports responsible gaming — ensures self-exclusion and other safeguards are effective
What Documents Are Accepted
Photographic ID (one required)
You must provide one of the following valid, unexpired government-issued documents:

Proof of Address (one required)
You must provide one of the following documents, dated within the last 3 months:

| Government correspondence | Revenue, Social Welfare, local authority, etc. |
| Mortgage statement | From a regulated financial institution |
Not accepted: Mobile phone bills, insurance documents, or documents in a language other than English or Irish (unless accompanied by a certified translation).
Selfie
You will be asked to take a live selfie through the App. This is used for biometric matching against your photo ID to confirm that you are the person depicted in the document.
How to Upload Your Documents
Through the App
- Open the App and navigate to Profile > Verification
- Select the type of document you are uploading
- Use your device camera to capture a clear photo of the document, or upload an existing image
- Ensure all four corners are visible, text is legible, and there is no glare or obstruction
- Take your live selfie when prompted
- Submit and await verification
In Person
You may also present your documents in person at the Club reception during opening hours (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM). A staff member will assist you with the process.
Tips for a Successful Upload
- Photograph documents on a flat, dark surface with good lighting
- Ensure the entire document is visible — no corners cut off
- Avoid flash glare on laminated cards
- For proof of address, make sure your name, address, and date are all clearly visible
- Your selfie should be taken in good lighting, facing the camera directly, without sunglasses or face coverings
Processing Time
- Standard processing: Within 24 hours of submission
- Peak periods: Up to 48 hours
- You will receive a notification in the App and an email once your verification is complete
If we need additional information or a clearer image, we will contact you promptly with instructions.
What Happens If Verification Fails
If we are unable to verify your identity:
- You will be notified via the App and email with the reason (e.g., document expired, image unclear, details do not match)
- You may resubmit with a corrected or alternative document
- There is no limit on resubmission attempts, but your account will remain restricted until verification is complete
- Restricted account status means you cannot:
- Make withdrawals
- Participate in gaming at the Club
- Access certain App features
- If verification cannot be completed after reasonable attempts, we may be required to close your account in accordance with our AML obligations

Data Handling
Your identity documents are processed and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy and GDPR. Specifically:
- Documents are transmitted and stored using AES-256 encryption
- Access is restricted to authorised compliance personnel only
- Documents are retained for 5 years after the end of the business relationship, as required by Irish AML law
- You may request information about how your data is processed at any time by contacting our DPO at dpo@dublinpokerclub.com
